Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day!

This is a photo of Martin Luther King, Jr. and his wife Coretta Scott King on their wedding day. They were married on June 18, 1953 on the lawn of her parents’ house in her hometown of Heiberger, Alabama. His father, Martin Luther King, Sr. performed the ceremony.

But MOST interesting is that Coretta had the vow to obey her husband removed from the ceremony, which was very unusual for 1953!
